Swear Down
"Oliver East's perambulating comics are throughly unique and Swear Down is his best yet" - John Porcellino
"Technically inventive with formal sleights of hand, this is a rare type of comic book that reads like a poem. Swear Down is like a train trip through one's memory to the station of the heart" - Frank Santoro
Published in 2012, Swear Down sees me leave my front door and follow the line of longitude, which cuts through England, France, Spain before heading to Africa. In this first instalment I get as far as Stoke. All to avoid coping with recent personal trauma, resulting in my most personal work up to this point.
Hand drawn at the size printed, Swear Down includes elementss of collage, marker bleed and structural experimentation.
